Melvin L. Hughes, 90, Warsaw, passed away at 7:13 a.m. Nov. 29, 2015, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born March 10, 1925, in Marshall County, to George and Esther Ballinger Hughes. On Oct. 24, 1999, in Warsaw, he married Bonnie Lou Scott, who preceded him in death July 21, 2003.
He lived most of his life in Warsaw. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a driver for Glen’s Wrecker Service, and a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw.
Surviving are, five sons: Douglas (and spouse Rhonda) Hughes, Warsaw; Robert Hughes, Danville, Ind.; Rodney (and spouse Tammie) Hughes, Mentone; Terry (and spouse Julia) Hughes, Tippecanoe; Lee Hughes, Phoenix, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward (and spouse Nesta) Hughes, Auburn; and a sister, Lilly Wright, North Webster. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Jr. and Michael Hughes; a daughter, Dawn Weber; two brothers, Robert and Jerry Hughes; and a sister, Betty Hines.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Dan Cox, United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with graveside honors conducted by American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, both of Warsaw.
