Mayor Highlights His Priorities Again For The City Of Warsaw

Posted

Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s Independence Day celebrations such a meaningful, safe, and uplifting experience.
From the stunning fireworks displays around our beautiful lakes, several parades in different towns, along with the opportunities to spend time with family, friends, and neighbors, I was reminded once again of what it means to be a part of this wonderful community nestled in the heartland of the United States of America.
As we return to our daily routines this week, I firmly believe we must remember to put into practice the ideals we celebrate during this time of year: civic responsibility, the rule of law, equal opportunity, and the desire for a limited government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Eighteen months ago, I shared six priorities related to these ideals that I wanted to make the foundation of my daily life while serving as mayor. In that spirit, each priority is highlighted again:
I will serve with openness and trust. Whether we agree or not on an issue, I will continue to strengthen communication between residents and local government by emphasizing accessibility, transparency, and honest conversations.
Establish partnerships with other public and private stakeholders. Working closely with federal, state, and other local representatives will ensure that we better align our goals and deliver services for the good of everyone in our county. For starters, I have to say U.S. 30, SB1, our airport, and housing needs come to mind.
I will promote private sector investment and growth in order to lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity for individuals, families, business leaders, and future entrepreneurs wanting to make the City of Lakes their home.
Maintain and improve our roads, sidewalks, public spaces, and other critical infrastructure so our county-seat is safe, vibrant, accessible, and ready for tomorrow. These efforts are about connection, mobility, and progress to make this a great place to “live, work, and play” today and in the future.
I will highly prioritize public safety for our residents. Our police officers and firefighters work 24/7 to protect our freedom and safety. This is why I will continue to support their efforts with the proper equipment, training, and adequate staffing to “serve and protect” everyone around the clock.
Lastly, I will remain committed to a limited government while also promoting good governance at the local level. I want the City of Warsaw and our entire community to be a place where others constantly witness “neighbors serving neighbors while cultivating community.”

Again, as we move past the fireworks and into the second half of the year, let’s strive to carry forward the spirit of July 4th and the desire for good government at the federal, state, and local levels. Let’s learn from our history, stay connected & engaged, and keep cultivating a community, state, and country that reflects the best of who we are and what our founders wanted representative government to do: openly discuss, promote, and protect “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
This column “… from the Mayor” will provide brief updates, the sharing of opinions, establishing vision, identifying priorities, and offering potential solutions for residents in our community. You may contact my office via email at jgrose@warsaw.in.gov or by phone at 574-372-9595.
