SYRACUSE - Marilyn L. Bess, 76, of Milford, died at 11:15 a.m. Sept. 16, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to Floyd and Rosa L. Thomas DeCamp.
In February 1953, in Anderson, she married Dale Robert Kasten, who died in 1979. On April 10, 1987, in Milford, she married William N. "Bill" Bess, who survives.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1951. She was a homemaker and lived in Anderson, New Castle and Delphi, before moving to Milford in 1985. She was a member of Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, Syracuse, where she took care of many different flowers details for the church and Red Hat Ladies Group, Milford/Syracuse.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lynn (and spouse Ron) Cole, Syracuse, and Kathy (and spouse Tom) Naylor, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; a son, Steve (and spouse Carla) Kasten, Bristol; two stepdaughters, Angela (and spouse Garry) Ferrell, Goshen, and Mary Kay Bess, Warsaw; a stepson, William Bess, Wolcottville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Campbell, Dunnellon, Fla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, Syracuse, with Pastor John French officiating. Burial will be in New Paris Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse.
