AKRON - Marian F. Hunter, 89, of rural Akron, Ind., passed at 2:55 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Alderson, Okla., to Joe and Elsie Oglesby Musial.                        

She married Sept. 11, 1949, in Akron, to Howard Hunter, who preceded her on January 20, 2016.

Marian was a homemaker and was known as a cake maker. She drove a school bus for Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation for more than 30 years.

She was a 1947 graduate of Akron High School. She attended the Akron Church of God for more than 62 years. She was active in the church teaching Sunday School for more than 60 years. She was a member of the D.A.R. and was a documented descendant of Abraham Clark – she was his fourth great-granddaughter – who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.  Marian always enjoyed quilting, sewing and visiting with friends and family.

She is survived by daughters, Shirley and husband Ron Smith of Fishers, and Debra and husband Tim Mills of Perrysville, Ohio; son, Larry and wife Lana Hunter of Akron; seven grandchildren, Dustin, Jill, Bret, Andy, Kari, Ryan and Ashley; nine great-grandchildren, Kayla, Maddie, Jace, Rily, Breanna, Macey, Sadie, Hunter and Skylar; and sister-in-law, Lucy Smith, Pierceton.

She was preceded in death by mother, Elsie Engle; father, Joe Musial; and husband, Howard Hunter.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10 at Akron Church of God, Akron, with Pastors Kathy Nelson and Mandy Nellans officiating.

Her burial will take place at a future date in the Akron Cemetery, Akron.
