Manchester's 15th Win Leads Local Basketball Roundup

NORTH MANCHESTER — Defeating Garrett 45-41 in overtime Friday night at home, the Manchester boys basketball team matched its most wins in a season since 1998-99.
Heading into Sectional 37, which it hosts, Manchester sits at 15-5, completing quite a turnaround in North Manchester.
Manchester carried a 22-87 record in its the four previous seasons and enters the sectional with its eyes on its first championship since 1994-95.
In the regular season finale, senior Claudel Dickantone had 23 point, followed by seven each from senior Clayton Petrie and sophomore Braydon Sewell, while sophomore Chase Fierstos had six.
Manchester begins its journey for a sectional title Wednesday against Southwood at 7:30 p.m.

The Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team ended its regular season with a road win against South Bend Career Academy Friday, 47-28. The win is LCA’s second in a row and leaves it with a 3-18 record going into their Sectional 52 game against Lakewood Park Tuesday at Hamilton High School. In the win, Jon Harmon and Chris Silveus each had 17 points.

Hosting Knox for their final game of the regular season, the Triton boys basketball team won 48-36 Friday night. The Northern State Conference victory leaves Triton with 12-7 record and 5-2 in the NSC. Senior Tanner Shepherd paced the Trojans with 12 points, followed by 10 from Dillon Meadway and nine out from Skyler Reichert. Triton received a first-round bye for Sectional 51 at Culver High School and will play either Culver or LaCrosse Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in the semfinals.

The Whitko boys basketball team had its regular season come to a close in disappointing fashion Friday night, losing 72-18 at home to Class 3A No. 5 NorthWood. The loss leaves Whitko at 1-19 going into Tuesday’s Sectional 21 opening game at Wawasee High School against West Noble.
