Man Faces Charges After July Incident At North WebsterNORTH?WEBSTER – A Brownsburg man is facing charges after police say he claimed to be an FBI agent and handcuffed children. North Webster police arrested Blake David Ayers, 22, at 9:51 p.m Saturday. Ayers is charged with one count of impersonation of a public servant, a level 6 felony, and one of count of false informing, a Class A misdemeanor. According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Kosciusko County Prosector’s Office, police responded to a call of a possible drowning at Webster Lake on July 29. Police made contact with Ayers who claimed he saw someone drown in the lake. Many other local law enforcement agencies were called in to help search for the victim. After serval hours, no victim was found and Kosciusko County?Sheriff’s Department deputy Christopher Francis spoke with Ayers and came to believe that Ayers had lied, according to the affidavit. Ayers later informed law enforcement that he had a flashback to watching his cousin drown many years ago, the affidavit said. During the investigation into the supposed drowning, David May, of the North Webster Police Department, was contacted by two men staying at Fisherman’s Cove who said Ayers portrayed himself as a FBI agent. In investigating further, May found two children that had been handcuffed together, according to the affidavit. The children informed May that they agreed to be handcuffed after Ayers told them he was an FBI on a secret mission to apprehend a rape suscept and made the children swear not to tell anyone. One witness told police she had heard that a man was handcuffing children and claiming to be an FBI agent. She informed police that Ayers took off running when she asked to see his identification.
