NORTH MANCHESTER - M. Irene Beery, 93, North Manchester, died at 6:15 a.m. Feb. 19, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Aug. 13, 1915, in Chester Township, Wabash County, to William and Elizabeth Grist Pottenger. On Oct. 28, 1934, she married Donald W. "Dee" Beery, who died July 23, 2004.
She was a homemaker and worked in food service at Manchester College. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester. She graduated Chester High School in 1933. She served as a 4-H leader for many years. Active at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, she served on the food committee for many years and worked in the gift shop.
Surviving are a son, Dewayne (and spouse Cindy) Beery, Buffalo, N.Y.; a sister, Willodean (and spouse Gerald) Swank, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and two sisters.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Pastors Kurt Borgmann and Karen Eberly officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
