Lois A. Horn Hurd

Lois A. Horn Hurd, 72, of Warsaw, peacefully passed away Oct. 25, 2012, in Visiting Nurse Hospice, Fort Wayne. She was born July 13, 1940, in West Prestonsburg, Ky., to the late Yancy and Opal Cornett Horn. On June 11, 1955, she married Albert L. Hurd, in West Prestonsburg, Ky., who survives in Warsaw. She was a devoted and loving wife to Albert for 56 years. She was a lifelong happy homemaker and childcare provider to generations of children. She attended the Victory Christian Church, Warsaw. She loved watching “Little House on the Prairie”, “The Waltons”, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”. She was an avid lottery and scratch off ticket player. She enjoyed singing gospel songs along with Elvis Presley. She was a fan of NASCAR and rooted for the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings. She loved cooking and sharing her creations with others. She never knew a stranger and had a way of making others feel welcome and comfortable in her home. But most importantly she relished spending time with her family and friends. Her sharing and caring heart will be the living legacy that she passes onto her children and grandchildren. Also surviving are three sons: Don L. (and spouse Tina) Hurd, Burnettsville; David Hurd, Osceola; Joshua (and spouse Tammy) Hurd, Warsaw; two daughters, Fanny (and spouse Phillip) Kelley, Atwood, and Etta Hurd, San Antonio, Texas; four brothers: Yancy Horn Jr. and William Horn, both of Warsaw; Donald Lee Horn, Claypool; and John Horn, West Prestonsburg, Ky.; sisters: Bonnie Shepherd, West Prestonsburg, Ky.; Mary Meeks, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Angie Haywood, Warsaw; Audrey Long, Churubusco; five grandchildren: Zachary, Rachel and Bryce Kelley, and Kyle and Madison Hurd; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Burkhart. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Kelley, Word of Truth Ministries, Milford, officiating. Graveside services will be at the Harrison Center Cemetery.
