Locals Compete In State Track MeetBLOOMINGTON – Several area athletes competed in the IHSAA boys state track meet Friday at Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex at Indiana University.
Warsaw’s 4x100 relay team of Rane Kilburn, Will McGarvey, Alijah Wade and Tristan Larsh was 13th in 42.86 seconds. The team from Carroll won in 41.06 seconds.
Larsh was 16th in the 200 preliminaries in 22.36 seconds. Deangelo Mason of Warren Central got the last spot in the final in 21.86 seconds, and Noah McBride of Evansville Harrison was the state champion in 21.14 seconds.
The Tigers’ Zeb Hernandez was 20th in the 1,600, completing the distance in 4:26.58. Gabe Fendel of Hamilton Southeast won in 4:04.70.
The 4x400 relay team of Kilburn, D’Andre Street, Ridley Lemon and Alijah Wade was 21st in 3:25.28.
Wawasee’s Luke Griner was ninth in the 800 run in 1:55.49. New Palestine’s Samuel Voeltz won in 1:52.60.
Gavin Howard of Whitko was 14th in the shot put with a throw of 51-4.25. George Larlaftas of West Lafayette won with a 59-5.5 throw. Alex Wilson was 26th in the 200 in 22.88 seconds.
Tippecanoe Valley’s Dakota Parker was 24th in the 400, posting a time of 51.02 seconds.
The girls state meet is today at Indiana University.
