Warsaw at Mishawaka
Warsaw dropped a Northern Lakes Conference game to Mishawaka on Friday night, falling 42-21 on the road. The Tigers are now 4-3 this season, 3-2 in the NLC.
The team had 302 rushing yards in the loss, led by Quinton Brock and his 143 yards. Seventy of those came on a long touchdown run. Wyatt Harman added 48 yards. Brody Duncan and Daylon Fitzpatrick each scored a touchdown.
Warsaw is at home against NorthWood on Friday.
Northridge at Wawasee
Wawasee is still searching for its first conference win after falling 42-7 to Northridge on Friday. The Warriors are now 1-6 this fall, 0-5 in the NLC.
No statistics were available for the game. Wawasee is at Concord on Friday night.
Manchester at Whitko
Manchester continued to run through Three Rivers Conference play with a 42-0 win over Whitko on Friday night. The Squires are now 5-2 this season, 5-1 in the TRC. Whitko falls to 1-6, 0-6 in the TRC.
No statistics were available for the game. Manchester is at home against Maconaquah on Friday, while Whitko travels to Southwood.
Caston at Triton
Triton got back into the win column on Friday night, defeating Caston 28-16 at home. The Trojans are now 5-2 this fall, 4-1 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Quarterback Gage Riffle threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns. One of which went to Jayden Overmeyer, who also added 188 yards and two more scores on the ground.
Triton is on the road at Pioneer on Friday.
Boys Tennis Sectional
Wawasee at Warsaw
Warsaw avenged last season’s sectional final loss to Wawasee with a 5-0 win on Saturday to win this year’s sectional and advance to the regional.
No. 1 Charlie Norton won 6-3, 6-0. The No. 1 doubles team of Spencer Love and Luke Smith won 6-0, 6-2. No. 2 Henry Norton and No. 3 Ted Grandon each won in straight sets as well.
Warsaw will compete at the NorthWood regional on Tuesday.
Cross Country
Warsaw at NLC Championships
Warsaw competed at the Northern Lakes Conference championships on Saturday, with the girls taking first place and the boys taking fourth.
Senior leader Sammi Rastrelli set the tone for the Lady Tigers , running a strong and strategic race to claim the overall title in 18:38.95. Freshman Dani Rastrelli stepped up with an impressive performance of her own, taking 4th in 19:27.34. Not far behind, Eden Metz continued Warsaw’s front-running presence with a 5th place finish in 19:44.17.
The Tigers’ pack sealed the team win as Abi Marsh (12th, 20:51.47), Hannah Fisher (13th, 20:52.50), and Katie Robertson (16th, 20:58.13) worked shoulder to shoulder to finish as a group. Junior Savannah Purdy closed the door with a gutsy performance, crossing 20th overall in 21:14.49.
For the boys, senior Jackson Gackenheimer led the way with a Runner-Up finish in 15:32, crossing the mile in 4:43 and the halfway point at 7:28.
“Jackson ran with confidence and took a chance early,” said Head Coach Matt Campbell. “He might have gone out a little fast, but that’s what good racers do — they’re not afraid to take risks. He battled all the way through, and I know this race will fuel him heading into the tournament. He’s in a great spot, and I have no doubt his best races are still ahead.”
Rounding out Warsaw’s Top 7 were Junior Jaxon Lehman (19th, 17:21), Junior Nolan Stump (25th, 17:32), Junior Jack Boggs (31st, 17:56), Senior Sam Allebach (40th, 18:13), Freshman Spiros Christos (42nd, 18:16), and Junior Alex Hoover (50th, 18:43).
Volleyball
Warsaw at Elkhart Invite
Warsaw won both games it played on Saturday to win the Elkhart Invite. The Lady Tigers defeated both the host Lady Lions as well as NorthWood to take home the win and improve to 25-4.
CeCe Goode led the team with 26 kills on the day. Madison Branam added 17. Avary Hoeppner had 35 assists. Ellie Hepler and Branam each had eight aces, while Hepler led the team with 32 digs.
Warsaw wraps up the regular season on Thursday at Concord.
