Lloyd C. Barden

Lloyd C. Barden, 86, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, died at 8:50 p.m. Nov. 29, 2008, in River Crest Speciality Hospital, Mishawaka.

He was born March 16, 1922, in South Bend, to Samuel Edward and Verona Pearl Faylor Barden. On Dec. 4, 1954, in Fort Wayne, he married Beverly Ann Coverdale, who survives.

Working in maintenance for hospitals and nursing homes, he worked at Irene Byron TB Sanitarium, Fort Wayne, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. A resident of Kosciusko County since 2001, he formerly lived around South Bend, Walkerton, North Liberty and Tyner. He was a 1940 Walkerton High School graduate and attended Indiana Central College.

Also surviving are three sons: Kenneth E. (and spouse Genny) Barden, Philippines; Samuel C. (and spouse Linda) Barden, Sydney, Australia; and Thomas L. Barden, Raytown, Mo.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (and spouse Rachel) Barden, Goshen; and a sister, Betty Hall, California. He was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Chaplain Glenn Byers officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
