Living With Parents

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I received this letter in the mail a week ago and I felt like I should share it:

"Well, Gary Eppenbaugh, you sure gave us all a lesson on how our county government is run and the duties of our county commissioners, thank you. I find it odd that you have much knowledge of the world, our president and our country as a 30-something-year-old man who still lives at home with mom and dad. What would you know about making it in this world while standing on your own?

You find fault with Jennifer Bell's letter and her opinion on our commissioners because she felt as did I and many others that we should have been under a snow emergency, I still stand by that. You also told her that you did not want her to hold your hand; I have to ask, Gary, is it because mom and dad are already holding yours?

As far as driving across a broken bridge, I know that Jennifer and I would not, and you might not either unless you got permission first. You see, Gary, the adults in this county know that the roads were very dangerous that night and anyone with any common sense knows this. Now I don't know why you feel the roads were just not that bad, maybe your trailer park has several plows that they were using that night, or maybe as you were being tucked in for bed that night after a large glass of warm milk and cookies your parents told you that everything would be OK, I just don't know.

Let's try this, Gary, let's try growing up and standing up on your own, maybe next you can buy a house like the rest of us and pay property taxes. Who knows, Gary; you might even find your queen of the doublewide soon and have your own family someday. Maybe then you too might want the elected officials to do the right thing and help keep your family safe."

This is for the author. You are clearly a Progressive who does not do any due research because if you would have done a little digging, you would have realized that I graduated from WCHS in 1999, and Purdue University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in political science.

My education is the foundation for what I believe. Is Warsaw Community Schools and Purdue University at fault for teaching me? At least I am not taking government handouts. I have a sense of pride in that I want to work for what I want, and not to have everything given to me. I have accomplished all that I have on my own. My family contributed nothing toward my college education and they are contributing nothing toward my teaching education. Why would Progressives such as you want to demonize success? Has my life turned out like I wanted it to? Of course not, but I still hold my head high!

Some local Progressives do not like me, but I say President Obama is still a liar.
