Editor, Times-Union: I am writing this letter after finishing a “nice” walk along Winona Beach Drive. That small stretch of road is littered with so much disgusting trash. There is everything from empty cigarette cartons and water bottles to a light fixture and large canned light type bulb.
I would take a trash bag with me on my walks and pick the trash up myself, but, with all of the news making methamphetamine arrests in our area, I am afraid of what I might be touching.
I really think cleaning this and other, I am sure, equally littered stretches of road in our county would be an excellent means of community service, self-awareness therapy of just plain punishment for the many felons that we see on the front page of your newspaper so frequently.
