Falwell Defended

Editor, Times-Union
In the Times-Union of Thursday 10-11 you published a letter written by Sarah Lowe and it was captioned "Offended by Falwell." Such is not the case and I feel it is essential that the misconception be clarified.

Dr. Falwell's comments about the terrorist attacks of 9-11 are a manifestation of his knowledge of the Holy, inerrant, infallible Word of God. Since he has spent his entire life studying, preaching and teaching God's word he is extremely well qualified to be an ambassador for God and to speak out against the evils in our society that justify God's wrath. Dr. Falwell was in no way advancing his standard of what is right or wrong or in any way promoting his own agenda.

For Ms. Lowe to refer to the "pagans, and the abortionist and the feminists and the gays and the lesbian" as "blameless people" shows a total lack of any Bible knowledge whatsoever. When God calls something sin we have no right and certainly no authority to call it anything else. When anyone refers to God's holy laws as "religious intolerance and extremism" they are in danger of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us that all manners of sin can be forgiven but blasphemy against God's Holy Spirit is unpardonable.

Ms. Lowe was not offended by Dr. Falwell but by the Holiness of the Omnipotent, Eternal, Sovereign God who created the ground she walks on, the water she drinks and the air she breathes. When Ms. Lowe, or anyone else, finds it appropriate to offend God by publicly denouncing Him and His holy law they are skating on thin ice and headed for open water at full speed.

I also find it impossible to understand how Ms. Lowe can defend the abortionists who have killed millions of innocent helpless human beings by drilling a hole in their skulls and inserting a vacuum tube to suck their brains out while their arms and legs are flailing in agonized pain and then refer to those who carried out the attacks as "a group of sick, vile, evil terrorists with no sanctity of human life."

Dr. Falwell's comments about the terrorist attacks were accurate and prophetic. Unless there is a spiritual (notice I did not say religious) awakening in America what happened on 9-11 is only the tip of the iceberg.

Think about it.

Missing Belongings

Editor, Times-Union:
In response to the letter to the editor, "Missing Items," I would like to thank the person who called. We have tried for three weeks and dozens of phone calls to retrieve our belongings only to find that the Kosciusko County Coroner had them. We found out that he had called the families of the deceased boys and let them look through the items, then he disposed of them without even calling us. It seems illogical that young boys would be driving around with a red woman's bathing suit, a blue nightgown and beige bras! Why weren't we notified that there were unclaimed items from the accident scene?

We did receive compensation from our insurance company because the other parties were uninsured, but the money is not the point. These items cannot be replaced and it wasn't right that we were not allowed to retrieve our belongings. The coroner had no right to throw away our belongings and people should be made aware of what is happening in case they are ever in this same situation.

Always Free

Editor, Times-Union:
I had to write. Life will never be the same. When I walked into a store three weeks ago, there on the front of all the books and magazines was a full page picture of that mad man, a gutless coward, bin Laden. The Bible calls the devil a fallen angel, beast, dragon, satan, also a serpent, who bites then crawls back into its hole and hides. I became sick to my stomach. I couldn't even touch one of the magazines. His untold story? Who cares? If I had read that all money made will go to New York or the ones from the planes, it might have been a little different.

You (Times-Union) had a full-page picture on Oct. 5, which should have been on your, as well as all, front pages. It, in itself, told the story. Most of us before Sept. 11 had never even heard of bin Laden and his terrorists. We must always remember they are responsible for murdering all our people. He, like Adolf Hitler, will answer for what they have done. At least Hitler was more out-in-the-open, but in the end, he committed suicide. But this evil serpent no doubt is crawling in the hills and in the rocks. They won't stop until their flag is flying on top of the White House? It'll never happend.

And last, let's put prayer back in our schools.God will always live in our hearts, minds and souls. This is America. We're free and will always be free.

Coat Drive

Editor, Times-Union:
The Third Annual Coat Drive to benefit people in our community who are in need of warm winter coats was a huge success. The response was overwhelming! We are so fortunate to live in a caring and giving community. Kerlin Motor Company Inc., Silver Lake, was the coat drive and collection headquarters. The collection box was a 2001 Ford truck in the showroom and the coats were piled to the ceiling and overflowing onto the hood. There were 1,186 coats donated and Combined Community Services was very appreciative.

Thank you to to everyone who donated coats and to all of our co-sponsors. Many of us have more coats than we need; what a glorious feeling to know someone will stay warm this winter because we shared something as simple as a coat.
