KABS

Editor, Times-Union:
I certainly cannot understand the attitude of the county commissioners, nor the city council, when I read the remarks that were made in regard to the KABS bus.

Do they even care nor think of the great blessing KABS is to those who do not have transportation? Think of the mother whose husband has driven their only car to work and she has a pre-kindergarten child. That child gets on the KABS bus smiling at everybody and is delivered safely to his school. Also the Head Start child is put in a child's safety seat. Of course the senior citizens are very happy to be able to depend on KABS.

There are many other people without transportation who use KABS for work, the doctor, or even shopping. Well, perhaps no one has thought that we should all have a moral obligation for neighbors, friends or all other residents of your community. I have heard many people from other towns remark that we certainly had a valuable asset having the KABS bus. We should all feel this is something to be proud of having for all people who need our help.

OK, now why don't all of you - council and commissioners - give this more careful thought and consideration.

I keep hoping for a more caring community.

Leesburg Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
We would again like to take this opportunity to thank the participating merchants of Leesburg for sponsoring our softball team, which would not exist without their generosity.

This year a special thanks goes out to Bob and Helen Smoker of "Brick Street Embroidery." Their hard work and patience allowed us to be one of the best-dressed teams at the CCAC this year.

We would urge everyone to patronize the merchants of Leesburg.

Miller's Commended

Editor, Times-Union:
Miller's Merry Manor is to be commended for their thoughtfulness and generosity in hosting a free movie, "Out To Sea," at the Lake Theater recently for our area senior citizens. Over 200 took advantage of this first time ever invitation to enjoy an afternoonouting of fun and a chance to make new acquaintances with other seniors.

From the chattering before the movie and the hearty laughter during the movie, it was evident, from my perspective, that everyone had to have had a good time. Thank you, Miller's.
