Editor, Times-Union After reading David's review of Wagon Wheel's "Singing in the Rain," I felt he must have been at a different theater on opening night. The cast was wonderful, the dancing creative, and the voices were strong and meaningful. Every costume was a work of art for the time period. The humor of Jerry Galante and Michael Yocum added so much to the plot. The set was masterfully created.
Michael Vangemert and his dancing in the rain was very special. Choreography for so many dancers on the round stage was breath-taking. Tap dancing was a major dance choice of that era, and actually there were dances other than tap in the play. It was great to see masterful tapping. Heather Seldon was such a believable Kathy, and Heather Beck's voice was perfect for the part.
Immediately there was a spontaneous standing ovation from the audience during the curtain call. As a big fan of the movie and the play, I certainly wasn't disappointed. This is one of the most outstanding plays I have seen at the Wagon Wheel during the 33 years I've attended. I encourage everyone not to miss it.
