Moral Standards

Editor, Times-Union:
Re: The letter printed in the 6-01-2006 issue, submitted by Sarah Lowe of Chelmsford, Mass., titled "Supports Gay Marriage." All of us are sinners, but most of us do not repeat the same sin day after day after day without wanting forgiveness and the help to change our ways. God will help us if we truly ask him from our soul, because this is where God reads our true thoughts and feelings.

Sarah, a letter such as yours is to be expected from a person of low or no moral standards. Do you fit into either of these categories? I hope you know that you are putting your soul up for grabs because of your views, which are directly against God's word. "God's word is law!" Anyone that will side with satan's sinful ways against God in a humanly immoral issue is in serious need of Gods direction. Seek help from God to correct your sinful thinking. All gay humans are deserving of salvation, but they themselves must repent and give up the unholy gay life style that satan has created. There is no arguing with the law of God! Sarah, change your efforts into anti-gay support, and make happy our God in heaven that will judge us all. Political correctness is going to drown and die in sin. It is time for Godly correctness.

Chronicles Of Narnia

Editor, Times-Union:
I urge Christians to take advantage of the recent release of the Chronicles of Narnia DVD to have a community witness. The popularity of C.S. Lewis' Narnia series already provides churches with vast amounts of free publicity. In the past, Christians have tried to witness by reading the Gospel into movies like Star Wars, Superman, and 2001: A Space Odyssey (Would you believe, "God is your monolith"?). But the Chronicles of Narnia were written by a Christian author is a Christian allegory. For background material, I would recommend Lewis' novels and the website www.narniaresources.com

Also, I would urge churches and Christian organizations to refute The Da Vinci Code. This novel and film attack the Deity of Christ and the authority and inspiration of the Bible. The best rebuttal I have read is The Da Vinci Deception by Erwin W. Lutzer. Not only is Lutzer's book excellent, but it comes in a multimedia format as well to edify Christians and inform the general public (www.tyndale.com or 1-800-323-9400).

Definition Of Liberal

Editor, Times-Union:
So what is a liberal?
We've seen the definitions Mr. Woodward gave from Webster's Dictionary so we know that they are open-minded, believe in the essential goodness of man and stand for the protection of political and civil liberties. We also know that the believes these are the principles our nation was founded on. And lastly we know he doesn't think these attributes deserve the blind disparagement and mischaracterization that the term liberal is getting, including in the Times-Union.

Ok, fair enough, you're liberal and proud of it. This is America and the constitution guarantees your rights to believe however you want. The problem is that you've taken the definition "liberal" out of the dictionary and confused it with how a political party is acting. Liberals (i.e. Democrats) have gone way beyond what any definition in a dictionary means. They have taken such extreme positions on issues today that it's hard for them to defend them without becoming even more outrageous. This is the difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives tend to be principle based which is why they don't waiver or flip flop on what they believe. Liberals, on the other hand, tend to be issue driven on whatever is politically or personally expedient. (I guess this is the "open-minded" part of the definition.) This allows Democrats like Hilary Clinton, John Kerry and others to flip flop on their beliefs depending on the group they are trying to reach. It allows some local politicians to run as Republicans when in truth they are Democrats. They have no principles! (But they do have issues)

Now we come to the "essential goodness of man" part of your definition. This especially has come to light through our federal judges that have been appointed by liberals. We've seen what these liberal judges do with their belief in "the goodness of man". They let out rapists and child molesters from prison earl (that's if they make it to prison at all) because they believe that deep down they deserve a second chance. The problem is that this just gives them a second chance to rape and molest. We won't even go into murderers and habitual offenders of any kind because the absurdity of all this just makes your head want to explode.

Oh, this is giving me a headache! But I'll march on. Protection of political and civil liberties, yes this does sound like the principles that this country was founded on. In fact, it is what it was founded on! But to quote Ronald Reagan, "There you go again!" The key word is "principles" not "issues" and liberals have tried to make issues out of political and civil liberties. By doing so they have tried to strip our Great Constitution of some of it's first and second amendment rights like the right to the free exercise of religion and the right to keep and bear arms. You can't even put the Ten Commandments in the schools anymore because it might influence the kids. Oh, the wisdom of liberals!

So this brings us to the blind disparagement and mischaracterization that liberals are getting, even in the Times-Union. You didn't even get this one right! While the Times-Union is running Mallard Fillmore which castigates liberals, they also run Doonesbury which castigates conservatives. Sounds like a balanced paper. Also, sounds like the truth hurts.
