I had a garage sale the 13th and 14th. I had two thiefs come by on Friday evening in a small white older beat-up truck. The right front was damaged. It sounded like a rod was knocking.
He was around 6 feet, 200 pounds, with black hair and straggly beard. She was around 5 feet, 6 inches, 160 pounds, medium brown shorter hair, had a teenager in the truck. What a way to teach your kids.
My purse was sitting about two feet from me and my husband. She opened it and got about $700 out. It was in a bank envelope. She took it to the truck and came back and said my daughter won't come in, then they left. They threw the envelope down in my neighbor's yard. So hopefully this letter will warn people about them so when you have a sale, you can watch them.
If anybody knows who these thieves are, would you let me know?

Eagle Project
Editor, Times-Union:
Recently I completed my Eagle Project at Eisenhower Elementary with my fellow Boy Scouts assisting me planting 20 bushes. The project took about 100 man hours to complete. I want to thank Dick McCleary for helping me on my way to earning the Eagle Merit Badge. He is the scoutmaster of Troop 715. He really helped by sharing his experience and proving insight on improving my project. I never could have finished my project without Dick or Troop 715. Thanks a bunch, Dick.

Killer Road
Editor, Times-Union:
Tuesday my cat was mashed by a horrible person who obviously doesn't like animals. She was a very pretty gray and white cat. She was once wild, but with love, patience and food, she became very friendly and decided to make our home her home. She never hurt anyone. Don't tell me you couldn't avoid hitting her. She walked very slow so you could have gone around her, but you were probably going 70-plus mph. I live on Country Club Road and let me tell you it's suicide to even go across the road to get my paper. We renamed this road to "Killer Road." This isn't the first pet to be killed. We lost both dogs and cats. A few years ago my son was run off the road into the ditch riding his bike because of a speeder.
To the person who killed my cat ] you not only killed her, but she just had a litter of kittens a few days before her death. She hid the kittens as most animals do to protect them against other animals. So you also killed her babies because we can't find them and they probably starved to death. Doesn't that make you feel good?
You couldn't possibly have a heart or you would have stopped to see if she was still alive or at least apologized. We buried her, but I can't bury her babies as I am sure they are dead by now. I hope you sleep well.
Does anyone out there have a solution for slowing down these speeders? Yesterday it was a cat, but who knows how soon it might be a child. I have asked the county highway, sheriff's department, etc., for signs to "slow down." There were at one time, but for some reason they were taken out. We need them at CR 400S and Country Club Road to CR 450S. We have children that visit and I worry about them running to get a ball in the road. We do have a child next door, so it's not like we don't have children here.

Track & Field
Editor, Times-Union:
We would like to thank everyone who helped make this year's Kosciusko County Track & Field meet, held June 7, possible. A sincere thank-you goes out to the businesses and schools for all their help and assistance. Most of all, though, we wish to thank Mayor Ernie Wiggins for officially opening the meet, and all the volunteers who came out, despite the dreary weather, and helped as starter, timers, recorders, ball shaggers, huggers, etc. We could not have done it without you.

Religion
Editor, Times-Union:
Over 1900 years ago with eyes stern, with words uncompromising, Jesus warned men of the evils to come.
But there was to be one evil men should fear above all others. It was the one evil Christ would warn them about time and time again. Satan? Yes! But Satan disguised as an angel of light.
It is here! It is this evil Christianity faces today. And the name of this evil is indifferentism. What is indifferentism? It is the thought that has come to you time and time again. A thought you hear spoken of on every side. It is the very atmosphere you breathe. What is this?
That it doesn't make any difference to God what you may believe. That God doesn't care what you believe as long as you live a good life. That God doesn't care to what church you belong, as long as you live up to the teaching of that church. In brief, indifferentism is simply this: "One church is as good as another."
This evil of indifferentism is disguised in a garb of friendship and tolerance and good fellowship. Spread as far and wide as Christianity itself, today it is threatening Christianity's very existence. An evil all the more terrifying in its destruction, because while it appears lovely and beautiful on the surface, at the same time, it is destroying men's souls.
Does this seem far-fetched? Stop and think for a moment.
If one church is as good an another, then religion is only a matter of sentiment and good taste. There is no real truth in it. And a man is as free to follow his inclination in choosing his church as he might be in choosing a club or a lodge. When you are indifferent to anything, it doesn't require much of you to give up that thing completely. Religion is no exception. And thus it requires only a little obstacle for you to drop church entirely.
If you hold one church is as good as another, you are not far from the belief that there is not much good in any church. And you are quite right. For if religion is only an opinion, then it can easily be wrong. Hence, there is no certainty. Everything ends in doubt and darkness. The mysteries of faith are denied. And this state of mind prepares you, sooner or later, for a complete denial of Christianity. A rejection of God's revelation. And perhaps even a rejection of God himself.
