What We Stand For

Editor, Times-Union:
Thank you for including Michael Reagan's columns on the editorial page of your fine paper! The June 4th column titled, "Where Are America's Churches?" was right on target. We know within our own congregations what we stand for, but do we proclaim it to the community?

In writing about Britain's abortions, Reagan cited, "In 2002 five babies were aborted because they had deformed feet." I wept when I read this because 50 years ago I gave birth to a son with a deformed left foot. Thanks to a great orthopedic doctor, treatment was given over 10 years and today it is unnoticable. He is an ordained minister, a talented musician, composer and artist. He is also the administrator for a medical clinic. Who knows what those five babies who were aborted may have become?

Our churches need to take a stand publicly against the evils he wrote about (abortion, gay marriages and pornography) individually and collectively. Why not have a page on a certain date on which churches could have their statements printed?

Stolen Magnet

Editor, Times-Union:
It's been three weeks now and my my magnet has not been returned. It was on the passenger side of my truck. I paid good money so I could advertise for my mowing. What on earth would you want with my magnet? I reported it to the police and they will keep an eye out for it. I will not press charges if my magnet is returned to my truck, no questions asked. They were not cheap. I paid over $40 for them, so if you find it in your heart to return my magnet, I would say not a word. Thank you for reading my letter.

Veterans' Stories

Editor, Times-Union:
We both wish to thank Teresa Smith for the terrific articles that she wrote during the month of May, honoring WW II veterans and which were published in the Times-Union during the month of May.

It is obvious you were concerned in your interviews and some obvious research was also involved.

It is unfortunate that many other WW II veterans, with terrific memories to share, could not have their stories recorded.

Thanks again, Teresa Smith and the Times-Union.
