Booking Error

Editor, Times-Union:
I'd like to take this moment to publicly clear my name for a wrongful county jail booking that was in March 21 paper. First of all, there was no check deception charge, no bond for $23,750. To my understanding this was due to a filing error. All the charges were dismissed and cleared last fall. But it was never processed, therefore there was a warrant for failure to appear for pretrial, which is also wrong. I didn't even receive an apology for their mistake. A mistake which has publicly embarrassed and humiliated myself, family, community and workplace. Mistakes can be made even by those who are supposed to protect us and by our judicial system. I have seeked counsel on this matter, it's not right. Then for them to try and blame me for not following up on it. Well I did, but it still didn't do any good. I just wanted my community to know the real story. Since they don't seem to care what their "error" can do to someone's life. No one knows the mental anguish this can cause unless it's happened to them. I just want a public apology, in the paper. That's not asking much considering what this has done to me.

EdCom

Editor, Times-Union:
Did I miss it? This is a small town, and nothing much gets past us here, but either I missed it, or the Times-Union did. (WSBT Channel 22 was there.) On second thought, I do recall seeing a picture buried toward the back of the newspaper - a picture of a bunch of kids in a crowded hallway at the high school with some caption barely mentioning "EdCom." I am so disappointed that you guys didn't feature something more prominent and informative about this wonderful communitywide event! Students spent weeks, and even months, preparing projects to share last Saturday. And while EdCom wasn't sports-related, we still had the Tiger Den rocking with enthusiasm, all in the name of education.

With all the bad news in the press, some positive reporting about our public and private school students coming together to share their experiences of learning would be a welcomed use of newspaper space.

Kudos to all involved in the second Annual EdCom Expo: students, teachers, parents, community volunteers and all those who applaud learning. (Wouldn't it be great to add Times-Union to that list for next year?)
