Leland Gene Bailey, 90, formerly of Warsaw, died Nov. 3, 2008, at Trillium Woods Nursing Care Facility, Byron Center, Mich.
He was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Carrol County, to Price and Elsie Thomas Bailey.
He grew up in Warsaw, residing for the past number of years in Michigan and Arizona. He was a TV and radio sound engineer for NBC in the Chicago, Ill., area. He attended North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw. He played in a harmonica band in Phoenix, Ariz., and he played many other instruments as well. He was a 1936 graduate of Warsaw High School and graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology of Chicago.
Surviving are a brother, Billy (and spouse Lillian) Bailey, Genesee, Mich.; a niece, Jan (and spouse Derryl) Fewins, Kentwood, Mich.; two nephews, Craig (and spouse Linda) Bailey, Lexington, Mich., and Tom (and spouse Cathie) Royer, Adrian, Mich.; along with several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Neva Royer; and a brother-in-law, Max Royer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Derryl Fewins officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
