A Leesburg man was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday.
Nicholas Colquitt, 18, will serve up to eight years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
Colquitt was facing charges from three separate sexual felony arrests. In July, Colquitt pleaded guilty to four of the 15 felonies. The rest were dropped as part of plea deal.
Kosciusko Superior Court I Judge David Cates sentenced Colquitt to 12 years with four suspended for a total of eight years behind bars. Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, eight years was the maximum time in prison allowed.
Colquitt was first arrested for sexual misconduct with a minor in October 2016 after an underage girl said she had sex with Colquitt.
Colquitt picked the girl up from high school and asked her if she wanted to get something to eat. Colquitt then took her home and had sex with her, according to court records.
While he was in jail, another victim, an 11-year-old girl, came forward and also said Colquitt had sex with her, leading to a new batch of child molestation charges.
During the investigation, police obtained a search warrant for Colquitt’s phone and computer. The search revealed a link to numerous images of child pornography.
Members of Colquitt’s family wrote letters to the judge asking for mercy.
His parents told the judge they were “shocked and dismayed at his behavior and it was very unlike his character,” they wrote.
