Leesburg Council Gets Update On Pumping Station

Posted

LEESBURG — At the Leesburg Town Council Monday, Councilman Tom Moore said he was recently contacted by a representative from Astbury and asked to accompany one of their employees to the main pumping station due to the alarms going off.
This resulted in the discovery of an interior leak. Moore said the pipes are 17 years old.
Moore received a quote from Astbury and another company for addressing the issues at the main pumping station. The solution will include, in part, replacing the ductile iron (DI) pipe with high-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) and changing from 4-inch piping to 6-inch piping.
The quote from Astbury is $20,500 and includes testing and backfill, replacing piping, upgrading piping size, restoring of the main pumping station, labor for the initial response and up to 20 hours of time.
The quote from the other company was just under $18,000 but did not include upgrading the piping size or restarting of the main pumping systems.
Moore suggested accepting the quote from Astbury since it includes everything.
A motion was passed approving accepting the Astbury quote.
