Because Lakeland Christian Academy is not a publicly funded school, our 2008 SAT scores were not included in David Slone's front-page article on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Indiana Department of Education Web site publishes testing statistics for schools that choose to be accredited by their organization.
The board of directors at LCA has chosen not to pursue accreditation from the Indiana Department of Education. We are fully accredited by the North Central Association of College and Schools (www.advanc-ed.org), the same regional body which accredits all of our local public schools, including Warsaw Community Schools. We also are accredited by the Association of Christian Schools, International (ACSI; www.acsi.org). Our teachers maintain their professional accreditation through ACSI.
Following are the average SAT scores for the Class of 2008 from Lakeland Christian Academy, based on data received from College Board. These students represent 75 percent of the Class of 2008; nearly 80 percent of the Class of 2008 is currently pursuing higher education. Critical Reading: 545 Math: 518 Writing: 497.
