LCA Girls Take National Title

Posted
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Winning back-to-back national titles, the Lakeland Christian Academy girl’s high school track and field team took the overall team spot in the National Christian School Track Meet Saturday in Pennsylvania.
LCA junior Jo Boren was awarded the top female athlete taking the top spot in long jump, triple jump, 200 and second in the 400.
"Jo is a very talented runner and loves to compete," LCA coach Scott Nieveen said. "It’s a privilege to coach her."
Other highlights included Hailey Nieveen winning the 300 hurdles and placing second in the 100 hurdles, as well as third in the 200. Emilee Catron repeated as the 800 champ and placed fourth in the 1600 and 3200. Megan Lang placed fifth in the shot put.
The highlight of the meet came in the last event, the 1600 relay, when Erika Goshorn, running the last leg, passed two runners to give LCA fourth place and just enough points to win the meet.
The LCA girls scored 86 points to edge out second place Cornerstone by three points in a field that included six teams.
"What a team effort," assistant caoch Diane Catron said. "We came out to (Pennsylvania) with a small but determined team and they went out and competed well."
