Lady Wildcats Drop Season OpenerFORT WAYNE – Emalee Duggins had a team-high 19 points and Anna Ousley added 12 points for Whitko in its 46-42 girls basketball season-opening loss at Fort Wayne North Side Friday night.
Kayla Schipper had five points and 10 rebounds, and Lizz Fouts contributed four points and eight boards for the Lady Wildcats.
After playing to a 14-all tie in the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats forged a 22-16 halftime advantage. The Lady Legends then scored 18 points in the third period to take a two-point lead into the final quarter.
“We played extremely hard,” Whitko coach Rick Bragg said. “I am so very pleased and proud with the effort. We will continue to improve.”
Whitko (0-1) will travel to Albion Tuesday to take on potential sectional foe and defending sectional champion Central Noble. Varsity tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
