Lady Warriors Lose At Home In NLC Track To Lead Roundup

SYRACUSE — Hosting a Northern Lakes Conference dual meet against NorthWood Tuesday night, the Wawasee girls track and field team lost 73-59.
The loss drops Wawasee to 0-5 in the NLC, with just Northridge and Warsaw remaining in a three-team meet Tuesday in Warsaw.
Against NorthWood, Wawasee won eight of the 16 events, but didn’t have the depth to get the team victory.
Individually, Jordan Edington, Courtney Linnemeier and Catherine Yankosky each won two events.
Edington won both the shot put (35-5) and discus (95-1.5), while Yankosky was tops in the 100 (13.19) and 200 (28.78), while Linnemeier took first in the 1600 (5:55.60) and 3200 (12:33.34).
Wawasee’s Shelby Swartz also claimed a first place finish in the 100 hurdles (17.88), as did the 3200 relay of Jen Slabaugh, Linnemeier, Madison Miller and Becky Snavely (10:50.00).
The Lady Warriors leave conference competition Saturday to take part in the John Reed Relays at East Noble.

The Lakeland Christian Academy boys golf team defeated Trinity Christian 185-205 Monday at Warsaw’s Rozella Ford Golf Club. LCA was paced by Ross Wallen’s 43, followed by Chris Maron’s 46. The LCA Cougars host Clinton Christian back at Rozella Thursday.

Monday in Columbia City
The Whitko girls tennis team fell 3-2 at Columbia City Monday night. In the Whitley County loss, Whitko’s Laura Hippensteel won at No. 2 singles (0-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Aressa Tackwell was a winner at No. 3 singles (7-5, 6-4). Whitko hosts Triton today, then welcomes in Wabash Thursday for a Three Rivers Conference match.

In nonconference action Monday in Akron, the Tippecanoe Valley girls tennis team lost to Knox, 4-1. Valley’s victory came at No. 3 singles, where Hannah Dalrymple posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory. The Lady Vikings are at John Glenn tonight, then host Whitko Friday.
