Lady Vikings Score Come-From-Behind WinAKRON – Tippecanoe Valley had to come from behind four times, and never led until scoring the winning run with two outs in the eighth inning to beat Southwood 12-11 in a Three Rivers Conference softball game Monday. The Lady Knights led 5-0 after the top of the second inning, but Valley tied the game in the bottom of the third. Southwood took the lead again at 7-5, only to see the Lady Vikings tie it again in the fifth. Southwood retook the lead 10-7 in the top of the sixth, but Valley plated a run in the bottom of the sixth and forced extra innings with two in the bottom of the seventh. Once again, Southwood regained the lead, scoring in the top of the eighth. Valley finally got its first lead when the second of two runs scored in the bottom of the frame to win the game. Kayla Scott was the winning pitcher, tossing four innings without allowing an earned run. She also had a double among her three hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Mia Gunnels doubled, singled and drove in three runs. Katie Prater had a single, a double and two RBIs. Ally Better hit a solo home run, and every Valley starter but one scored a run. The Lady Vikings evened their TRC record at 2-2 and improved to 6-9 overall. They will host Northfield in a conference game Wednesday. Southwood fell to 5-8 and 0-4.
