Lady Tigers Wrap Up Perfect Regular Season In Roundup

DUNLAP — The 14th-ranked Warsaw girls track and field team wrapped up a perfect regular season Tuesday at Concord High School. Defeating Elkhart Memorial 96-36 and Concord 103-28, the Lady Tigers finished their regular season at 11-0 and their Northern Lakes Conference season at 7-0. With a win at the championships, the Lady Tigers would capture their seventh-straight conference title, which would breaks Warsaw’s own record of six, set between 1988 and 1993. Warsaw will look to continue its dominance, which has also included winning the Churubusco Turtle Town Classic and Kokomo Relays, Tuesday at home in the NLC Championships. In their latest meet, the Lady Tigers won 11 of 16 events, including all three relays. The sweep of the relays began with the 3200, where Lilly Fleming, Brooke Kline, Ellie Bearss and Ashley Erba won in 9:59.88, followed by a sprint win the 400, as Regina Anderson, Mariah Harter, Brittney Rhodes and Ann Harvuot raced out to a win in 51.24. To close the meet, Warsaw’s 1600 relay of Nicole Eckert, Jackie Ferguson, Megan Kratzsch and Tennie Worrell posted a win in 4:06.28, putting an exclamation point on the double NLC win. Individually, Warsaw received two wins each from Erba in the 1600 (5:07.79) and 3200 (10:50.39), as well as Harvuot in the 100 (13.31) and 200 (27.17). Also for the Lady Tigers, victories came from Ferguson (300 hurdles), Sarah Heagy (shot put), Lauren Burish (discus) and Claire Hickerson (pole vault). The Wawasee girls track and field team dropped an 87-45 Northern Lakes Conference decision Tuesday at NorthWood. Playing at Sycamore Golf Club Tuesday night, the Manchester boys golf team claimed two Three Rivers Conferences wins. The Squires shot a 175 on their home course, which also doubles as Whitko’s home, as Whitko shot a 188 and Northfield came in with a 196.
