Lady Tigers Top NLC Foe MemorialA second-half surge and a balanced scoring attack led the Warsaw Lady Tigers to a convincing Northern Lakes Conference win over Elkhart Memorial Wednesday evening.

After leading 11-9 at the end of the first quarter and 23-18 at halftime, the Lady Tigers stretched things out in the third and fourth quarters en route to a 57-35 victory over the visiting Crimson Chargers.

Warsaw is now 12-6 overall and 3-1 in the NLC, while Memorial fell to 9-7 and 1-3.

Northridge and NorthWood are both 4-0 in the league standings, and the Lady Tigers are the only other team with fewer than two NLC losses.

In the win over Memorial, eight players scored for Warsaw.

Junior Maddie Ryman made four three-pointers en route to a team-high 14 points. She also grabbed six rebounds.

Senior Emma Bohnenkamper tallied 13 points and six boards, with junior Kacy Bragg also scoring 13 points.

Sophomore Kaylee Patton scored two points, but came up big with nine assists and eight rebounds, and classmate Brielle Harrison finished with eight points and six boards.

Warsaw was 21 of 42 from the field overall, 8 of 21 from three-point range, and made 7 of 8 free throw attempts.

Memorial, on the other hand, was as cold shooting the ball as the temperatures were recently.

The Crimson Chargers made just 11 of 40 shots overall, including a 6-of-25 effort from the arc. Memorial did make 7 of 10 charity tosses, but was outrebounded 31-21.

The Lady Tigers are in action again Saturday in an NLC contest at Goshen, where first-year coach Lenny Krebs stalked the sidelines the past 14 seasons.

Goshen is currently 10-8 overall and 1-3 in the NLC. The Lady RedHawks lead the conference in fewest points allowed at 33 per game. Warsaw and Northridge are second in that category at 39.

Warsaw won Wednesday’s JV game 48-16.

Kensie Ryman led the JV?Lady Tigers with 10 points, while Kaia Hummitch scored eight points and Brooklyn Fitzgerald and Ashlynn Hepler netted seven each.
