Kerlin Cares Coat Drive Collects 1,162 Coats

Posted

Supporters of the annual Kerlin Cares Coat Drive recently helped collect 1,162 gently used coats that will soon be distributed by Combined Community Services.

Some of the outerwear was purchased new and given to the coat drive. In the past 19 years, the group has collected 20,799 coats. Drop-off locations were at supporting partners Kerlin Motor Co., Kerlin Western and Work Wear, Wildman Business Group, Peerless Cleaners and Lake City Media Group, according to Valerie Warner, Kerlin Western and Work Wear. The Times-Union also was a supporting partner.

Peerless Cleaners does all the dry cleaning free of charge, while Wildman cleans all the washables. The coats will be taken to CCS later this week to be distributed. A person in need of a coat does not have to qualify or sign anything, and can receive one discretely, Warner said.
