NORTH MANCHESTER – Kathryn E. “Kate” O'Hara, 91, rural Claypool, died at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 2, 2013, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Wabash County, to Fred H. and Clara Metzger Renicker. On May 1, 1948, in Warsaw, she married William L. O’Hara, who survives in Claypool. She retired from Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, after 17 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, reading and especially spending time with her family. She and her husband raised three foster children. She was a volunteer at the Silver Lake Elementary School, reading to students. Also surviving are three children: Patrick J. and Danny L. (and spouse Loni) O'Hara, both of Claypool; and MaryAnn (and spouse Jack) Bever, Lagro; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca (and spouse Paul) Steele, North Manchester; a son-in-law, Mark A. Young, Mentone; a foster son, Jim (and spouse Sandy) Hopson, Beebe, Ark.; two sisters, Jean (and spouse Bob) Shumaker, Fort Wayne, and Ruby Woolsey, Huffman, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Scott D. O'Hara; a daughter, Joy L. Young; one great-grandson; nine sisters and one brother. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
