SYRACUSE – Kathleen “Kate” Mock, 87, Syracuse, passed away at 6:45 p.m. May 5, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. She was born Sept. 29, 1926, near Syracuse to Byron and Ethel Wilkinson Grubb. On Sept. 9, 1945, in Milford, she married Ryland R. Mock, who preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1986. She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident, graduated in 1945 from Syracuse High School and received her associate’s degree from the International Business College in Fort Wayne. She retired in 2007 from Key Bank (formerly State Bank of Syracuse, Ameritrust Bank and Society Bank) after more than 40 years of service. She was a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren and former member of Red Hat Society in Syracuse, Hex Rural Extension Homemakers Club in Syracuse and Hi Neighbor Club. Surviving are a son, Phillip “Phil” (and spouse Annette) Mock, Syracuse; a daughter, LuAnn (and Henry Skinner) Mock, Empire, Colo.; three grandchildren: Jon (and spouse Sarah) and Justin (and spouse Jaimie) Mock; Shane (and spouse Jessica) Newman; eight great-grandchildren: Ruby, Taylor, Ava and Addison Mock; Cody, Jacob and Graiden; and Gabriel Newman; two sisters-in-law, Cora Belle Grubb, Elkhart, and Mary Mock, Syracuse. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daniel “Diz” Mock; two grandsons, Zachery Mock and Seth Newman; a brother, Edwin Grubb; and a sister, Mary Alice Tusing. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at North Webster Church of the Brethren, 7281 E. CR 600N, North Webster, with Pastor Robert Wyman of the church officiating. Burial is in Syracuse Cemetery.
