K21 Approves $24.8K Grant To Pave North Webster School Trail

Posted
NORTH WEBSTER – K21 Health Foundation recently approved a grant of $24,800 to join forces with Wawasee Community Schools to cover costs associated with paving the half-mile trail at North Webster Elementary School.
Currently, the trail is a mixture of dirt and stone, making it less than ideal for use by the community, according to a news release from K21.
“K21 is excited to help Wawasee schools offer the community a place to be physically active,” said K21 President and CEO Rich Haddad. “Currently, there are really no designated places in North Webster to safely walk or jog outdoors. Once paved, the trail at North Webster Elementary School will provide individuals and families a place to be active where they don’t have to worry about traffic.”
According to NWES Principal Lee Snider, “It is our hope that this trail will become a valuable asset in the community, and we welcome anyone looking for a place to be active. Because it is located on school property, the trail will be open for use by the public whenever school isn’t in session, provided posted rules and regulations are observed.”
Paving of the trail should be completed sometime this spring.
