Judy Paton, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Sept.. 24, 2026, in Leesburg.
Judy was born in Indianapolis on June 19, 1946, to the late James K. and Anna Patterson Coleman. She married Robert W. Paton on Dec. 20, 1969, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Indianapolis. The couple enjoyed 56 years together.
Judy graduated from Manual High School in 1964 and continued her education at Butler University, completing a Bachelor of Science degree in 1968 and a Master of Science degree in 1971.
Judy taught first grade at Beech Grove, worked as a bookkeeper at Patona Bay and managed a gift shop at Patona Bay. She volunteered as a tour guide at Amish Acres to teach the history of the culture and buildings at the park. She volunteered assisting the activities director at Lakeland Health Care in Milford. She volunteered to help children at Loveway equine assisted therapy at Middlebury. She treasured her time teaching her grandchildren. She loved watercolor painting and spent many hours learning painting techniques.
Judy loved helping teach Bible school with her friends at North Winona Church of the Brethren.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert W. Paton; her son, Robert John (Emma) Paton; and her grandchildren: Eliza, Annabelle, Rebecca, Wyatt and Thomas Ray Paton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James S. Coleman.
A celebration of her life by friends and family will be at noon Nov. 1, 2026, at North Winona Church of the Brethren, 2475 E. CR 100N, Warsaw.
