Judith "Judy" Loper, 70 of Lucerne, passed away at 10:20 p.m. June 30, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor.
She was born Sept. 24, 1937, in Canton, Ohio, to James A. and Anita Davis Robinson.
On Dec. 22, 1956, in Chesterton, she married Robert K. "Bob" Loper, who survives.
She was employed with the Logansport Community School Corporation as a special education teacher at Lincoln Middle School. She was actively involved with the Sagamore Council of Boy Scouts of America and the Tribal Trails of Girl Scouts of America. She also worked with the CDC of Monticello and Rensselaer, where she served as the director of children's services.
She attended the Baptist Christian Church in Royal Center and the Grace Brethren Church in Leesburg. She enjoyed reading, gardening and watching hummingbirds outside her home.
Also surviving are four daughters: Susan (and spouse Dirk) Holcomb, and Jennifer (and spouse Charlie) Johnson, all of Lucerne; Diane (and spouse Brian) Catron, Warsaw; and Sandra (and spouse Paul) Herzog, Springdale, Ark.; two sons, Rob Loper, Warsaw, and Andrew Loper, Indianapolis; a brother, James C. Robinson, Michigan City; two sisters, Beth Ronk, Rochester, and Cathy Darnell, Asheville, N.C.; and 11 grandchildren: Nick and Lindsay Holcomb; Justin, Joshua and Nathaniel Johnson; Cori, Alexis, Emilee and Gabriella Catron; Christopher and Siena Herzog; and her beloved cat, Tubby. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Connie Robinson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, with Pastor Richard Utterback officiating.
