Joseph R. 'Joe' Krasnansky

NORTH WEBSTER – Joseph R. “Joe” Krasnansky, 82, of Pierceton, died at 9:20 a.m. May 5, 2011, in The Oaks, Columbia City.
He was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Perth Amboy, N.J., to Joseph A. and Agnes Jankovitch Krasnansky. In August 1952, in Gary, he married Phyllis J. Achor, who died in 2005.
He graduated from Froebel High School, Gary, and was a U.S. veteran, serving in World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He moved to the North Webster/Pierceton area from Gary in 1961. He retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. after 40 years of services as a journeyman lineman. He was a licensed pilot. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton; Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2919, South Whitley; Kosciusko County Voiture 833 of the 40&8; 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment Association; 82nd Airborne Association; National Rifle Association; and a honorary life member of American Legion Post 253,   North Webster, where he was past commander.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Krasnansky, Indiana; a son, James A. Krasnansky, Kentucky; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Purcell, Indiana, and Dorothy Tartaro, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
No public services are planned. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery, Pierceton.
Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, is in charge of arrangements.
