NAPPANEE – Joseph A. Whetstone, 78, of 232 Plymouth Goshen Trail, Nappanee, died at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 5, 2011, in his residence. He was in failing health since December.
He was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Marshall County, to Amos and Mattie Whetstone. On Nov. 18, 1954, he married Katie Borkholder, who survives.
He was a farmer and a retired carpenter. He was a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Also surviving are a daughter, Emma Sue (and spouse Marvin) Yoder, Nappanee; two sons, David (and spouse Ruth) Whetstone and Ernest (and souse Marlene) Whetstone, all of Nappanee; 10 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; a sister, Anna (and spouse Paul) Graber, Guthrie, Ky.; and four brothers: Ervin (and spouse Edna), Topeka; John Henry (and spouse Wilma), Irvington, Ky.; Amos Jr. (and spouse Katie Ellen), Goshen; and David (and spouse Alma), Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services were at 9:30 a.m. today at the family resident with Bishop Kenneth Plank and Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church officiating. Burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.
