John Randall 'Randy' Tuttle Sr.

COLUMBIA CITY – John Randall “Randy” Tuttle Sr., 70, of South Whitley, passed away peacefully at his home surround by his family at 1:42 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018.

He was born Dec. 20, 1948, in Pierceton, a son of John James and Edna Eileen Waterson Tuttle. He was a member of the last graduating class of Larwill High School in 1967.

On Feb. 2, 1967, he entered the United States Marine Corps. Wounded during his service in Vietnam as a tank crewman, he received a purple heart. He was honorably discharge on May 22, 1969.

On June 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Judith A. Andrews. They had always made their home in the South Whitley area. Judy died June 26, 1999.

He became a union sprinkler fitter with Sprinkler Fitters 669. His jobs took him throughout the Midwest. In 2005, he retired to his farm in rural South Whitley, where he raised crops.

An honorable man, he was known for his calm and optimistic demeanor. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his three sons: John R. (Michelle) Tuttle Jr., Fort Wayne; Matt J. (Lisa) Tuttle, New Haven; and Tim L. Tuttle, South Whitley; his mother, Edna Eileen Tuttle, Pierceton; seven grandchildren; a sister, Susan (Ronald) Trester, Plano, Texas; and a brother, Terry (Elaine) Tuttle, South Whitley.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Tuttle.

The funeral service is at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is in the Booneville Cemetery, Larwill.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
