John Isaac Mullins, 87, Etna Green, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Jan. 1, 2014, at his residence. He was born June 12, 1926, in Mishawaka, to Ira Lee and Elsie M. Winn Mullins. On June 11, 1965, he married Patricia Ann Cole, who survives in Etna Green. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 58 years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and served in Manila, Philippines, until his honorable discharge in 1947. He worked for Macumber Construction Company, Elkhart, until his semi-retirement in 1955. He was a self-employed carpenter and member of the Indiana Carpenters Union 413 of Elkhart. He worked hard as a carpenter to provide for his family. He enjoyed the little things in life: golfing, watching the Colts and Notre Dame football. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida on a street called Towhee, making many friendships along the way. He loved fishing, boating to Stump Pass and tea-time with Bob and friends. He will also be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Terry (and spouse Linda) Hall, Leesburg, and Jerry (and spouse Nancy) Mullins, Menominee, Mich.; three daughters: Joyce (and spouse Harold) Wright, Argos; Deb (and spouse Mike) Flenar and Cindy (and spouse Dave) Clark, both of Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Betty Weirick, Warsaw; Sharon (and spouse John) Robinson, Lakeville; Joan Leffert, Plymouth; Barbara Westafer, Bourbon; and he will be missed by his special cat named Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one daughter, one son, a grandson and a great-grandson. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Etna Green Cemetery officiated by Pastor Tom Lemler.
