John Henry Anglin Jr., 70, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Nov. 4, 2012, in Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse, Mich. He was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Warsaw, to John H. and E. “Bette” Mikesell Anglin. On Nov. 30, 1975, at Clunette United Methodist Church, he married Lorraine Albert, who survives. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1960 and Purdue University in 1965, with a degree in forestry. He was honorably discharged after serving as Staff Sergeant John H. Anglin in the U.S. Army as an airborne ranger. He served with the Indiana Army National Guard. In 1967, he joined his father and uncles at Clunette Elevator Co. At the time of his death, he was the president and co-owner of Clunette Elevator Co. as well as a certified crop advisor. He was an active member of Clunette United Methodist Church, where he was its administrative chairman, a lay leader and member of the choir. While at Purdue he was affiliated with Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He served on the Kosciusko REMC board since 1976 and as its board chairman since 1983. He was a past member of the Soil and Water Conservation District and the Indiana Pork Producers Association; a board member of the Potawatomie Park; a past chairman of the Indiana Plant Food and Agriculture Chemical Association; a member of the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge 149 F&AM, where he was a past master mason; a past master mason of the Leesburg Lodge 181 F&AM; a member of the American Legion 49, Warsaw; Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne; Atwood Lions Club; the Snow Valley Riders Snowmobile Club and Kosciusko County Farm Bureau. He was an active supporter of 4-H and enjoyed the outdoors and anything and everything to do with agriculture. His day started at 4 a.m. when he would open the elevator and prepare for each day’s activities. He was always ready with a big smile, a hug and kind words. He was a faithful mentor to nieces, nephews and youth in the community. He and Lorraine opened their Clunette home and property often to youth groups, 4-H Clubs, Amish neighbors, church picnics and other neighbors who came to fish in the pond and enjoy the solitude. Every August, church members would gather at the mill to freeze ice cream for the annual Clunette Methodist Church Ice Cream Social. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, he would join many church friends and guests for the annual Harvest Supper and Auction where he would help as auctioneer. He and Lorraine purchased a cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan two years ago, where they enjoyed many peaceful times with family and friends fishing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. It is here in the UP that he peacefully went to meet his Lord and Saviour. Also surviving are a daughter, Jessica (and spouse Gabe) Ayers, Pierceton; his father, John H. “Jack” Anglin, Warsaw; a brother, Neal (and spouse Lyn) Anglin, Dodgeville, Wis.; two sisters, Beth (and spouse Jim) Cooper, Aurora, Ill., and Sarah (and spouse Larry) Payton, Olive Branch, Miss.; two grandchildren, Allie Elizabeth and Robert Jeremiah “RJ:, both at home; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many faithful, loving and caring friends in the farming community. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeremiah J. “Jeremy” Anglin, who died July 22, 1992; and his mother, Elizabeth M. “Bette” Anglin, who died Oct. 3, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at The Connection, 1692 W. Lake St., Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Michale Beezley of Clunette United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood, with military graveside honors by members of Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126.
