NAPPANEE - John Eddie Stapleton, 65, of 1104 Winona Ave., Syracuse, died at 2:35 p.m. June 5, 2009, in Elkhart General Hospital from complications from Parkinsons Disease, which he had for 15 years.
He was born July 13, 1943, in Silver Lake, to Arthur and Buford Brown Stapleton.
A lifetime Warsaw and Kosciusko County area resident, he had worked for Kosciusko County Highway for many years and was a self-employed owner of Ed's Garage, Leesburg. He was a member of Syracuse American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are three sons: Buford Eddie Stapleton, Warsaw; Stan Murphy, Nappanee; Damon Fisher, North Carolina; a daughter, Tina Rodenbeck, North Manchester; four sisters: Gladie Miller, Syracuse; Janet Williams, Jones, Mich.; Diana Wright, Lapaz; Glenna Swearingen, Syracuse; and a brother, Tommy (and spouse Judy) Stapleton, Foraker.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with Pastor Jack Worth officiating. Cremation will take place.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
