SYRACUSE – John E. White, 86, formerly of North Webster, passed away June 13, 2014, in Conroe, Texas. He was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Muncie, to Isaac and Marguerite Horner White. On Oct. 16, 1948, he married Bessie Ellen Rhodes, who preceded him in death in 2000. He was a World War II US Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Nevada as a fireman first class. He was a member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253 and the VFW Post 15016. He retired as a manufacturing engineer and designer for Ontario Products, Muncie. He was also a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Ellis, Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Isaac White, Muncie; a sister-in-law, Norma Wheeldon, Muncie; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. June 27, 2014, at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, North Webster, with full military honors.
