SOUTH WHITLEY – Jimmy “Jim” Ross Brown, 75, of Grace Village, Winona Lake, and formerly of rural Pierceton, died Aug. 31, 2011, in Parkview Main Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was admitted earlier that day.
He was born May 11, 1936, in Kendallville, to Ernest and Virgina Speaker Brown. On June 5, 1961, he married Hazel Lester, who died June 17, 1997.
He graduated from Larwill High School in 1956. He worked at Gripco, South Whitley, and then Montpelier for more than 30 years as a maintenance mechanic.
Surviving are a daughter, Annie Mae (and spouse John Wayne) North, Claypool; three sons: Everett Lester, Claypool; Cheyenne (and spouse Deanna) Brown, Derby, Kan.; and Dennis (and spouse Nancy) Brown, Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother.
Service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with Pastor Chad Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.
