SYRACUSE – Jimmie Lee “Jim” White, 74, of Syracuse, died at 8:35 p.m. Sept. 25, 2012, at I.U. Goshen Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Etna Green, to Robert O. and Mary E. Heckaman White. On July 30, 1961, he married Janet J. Rhodes, who survives.
He graduated from Etna Green High School in 1956, Ball State, Muncie, in 1961, and received a master’s degree from Ball State. He was a lifetime Marshall/Kosciusko County area resident, having moved to the Milford/Syracuse area from Plymouth in 1968. He was a retired educator after many years of teaching band, choir and shop at local schools. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, where he was very active with the music department.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jamie (and spouse Dean) Culbertson, Syracuse, and JoLene (and spouse Edgar) Treace, Fort Wayne; two grandchildren; four step- grandchildren; and three sisters: Mary Ann Bules, Etna Green; Kay (and spouse Frank) Furaro, Mishawaka; and Loretta Holderead, Muncie.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, with Pastor Mark Eastway officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
