MONTPELIER – Jessie H. Sutton, 84, of Portland, died at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 30, 2012, in Jay County Hospital, Portland. She was born April 3, 1928, in Hartford City, to Roy and Laproda Marie Gilbert Berrier. On Dec. 22, 1946, in Montpelier, she married Junior W. Sutton, who died Aug. 29, 2002. She formerly lived in Leesburg and South Whitley before moving to Portland. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Portland. She was a 1946 graduate of Montpelier High School. She worked for Pressler Cleaners, South Whitley, for 25 years and had been an organist at Miller Funeral Home, South Whitley. She wintered in Winter Haven, Fla., for many years. Surviving are two sons, Tim Sutton (and fiance Carolyn Burton), Decatur, and Tony (and spouse Cindy) Sutton, Warsaw; a daughter, Brenda (and spouse David) Bergman, Portland; two sisters, Paula Ruble, Montpelier, and Martha Loy, Gas City; a brother, Neil Berrier, Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, Montpelier, with the Rev. Wayne Ward officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Montpelier.
