I am writing in response to the Letter to the Editor by Kosciusko County Commissioner Brad Jackson on September 10. I know Mr. Jackson and others running for county office on the Republican ticket personally and appreciate their conservative values and service to the voters of Kosciusko County. I may well vote for some of them again in November.
I do want to take issue with his argument “Don’t be fooled by those who say ‘I am a Democrat but I don’t support their far-left agenda.’ If they didn’t support it, they would join a different party.” By that logic, you as a Republican support the white nationalism on display from many of the supporters of the current president.
Indeed, the current Democratic nominees for president and vice president have disavowed the far-left agenda while the current Republican nominees talk about “good people on both sides” while some of those people were chanting anti-Semitic slogans.
It would be good to hear the slate of local Republican candidates disavow any racist and white nationalist support in the clearest of terms.
