It's A Jerry Thing

Editor, Times-Union:

In response to recent inflammatory screeds authored by a "Jerry Richardson" and published in the Times-Union regarding the expansion of a runway at the Warsaw Airport, I have conducted a research project to gauge opinion about the controversy among people named Jerry Richardson.Former Baltimore Colt and Denny's founder Jerry Richardson of North Carolina, no relation, is too busy owning the Carolina Panthers NFL Franchise to care about Warsaw's airport expansion.

Jerry Richardson Jr., also of North Carolina and also no relation, is busily working on his putting and chipping, preparing for the 2011 season after earning his first PGA Tour check at the Wyndham Championship in August. Clearly, he has better things to do than worry about the Warsaw Airport.

Jerry Richardson of Warsaw, also no relation, has expressed his vehement opposition to the airport expansion in a series of letters to the Times-Union. He seems to be pretty angry and I don't know much else about him, but he has the right to express his opinion in the local newspaper, even if he uses my name.

Jerry Richardson from Leesburg is my dear father, who cares little about politics and is thus indifferent about Warsaw's airport expansion.

I, Jerry W. Richardson, a native and resident of Warsaw, usually have a strong opinion about every issue and tend to express it with vigor. Like three of the Jerry Richardson's cited above, I am also indifferent regarding the runway expansion. However, I am strongly supportive of the orthopedic industry's contribution to our community's high standard of living in general and appreciative of the philanthropic and entrepreneurial efforts of Dane Miller, in particular.

In conclusion, four out of five Jerry Richardsons surveyed hold no ill will toward Dane Miller and don't feel strongly enough about runway expansion to write a letter to anyone opposing it.
