Irvin R. Hahn, 82, of 2803 Krista Lane, Winona Lake, died March 24, 2007, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 26, 1924, in Wyanet, Ill., to William and Hattie Cork Hahn, the youngest of eight children. He married Donna Jones, who survives. They were married for 55 years.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Rebecca) Nine, Warsaw; a granddaughter, Kimberly DeVore, Elkhart; a great-grandson, Christopher A. DeVore-Baker, Elkhart; a 97-year-old sister, Edna Jensen, Peru, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline M. Macaluso, who died Feb. 1, 2007.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw. He attended Ball State University and graduated from Tri-State University, Angola, majoring in industrial engineering. In 1988, he retired from the Department of Defense, where he served as a liaison engineer between the Warren, Mich., Tank Command and General Dynamics in the production of the M1 Tank. He also held positions at General Electric Co., Fort Wayne; Lear Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich.; Ball Brothers, Muncie; and Honeywell Inc., Wabash. He moved to Winona Lake after retirement. His hobbies included woodworking, glass etching, landscaping and Caribbean cruising. He was a member of Warsaw Church of God and volunteered for Mobile Meals, Salvation Army, Kosciusko Literacy Program and Jefferson School Reading Program.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warsaw Church of God with Pastor Jerry Yoder officiating.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
