HS Roundup: Lady Squires Defeat Whitko, West Noble

SYRACUSE – Manchester junior Lydia Little was the medalist, posting a 45 and leading the Lady Squires to a pair of girls golf wins over Whitko and Manchester at South Shore Golf Club on Tuesday. Manchester’s 201 was 33 shots better than Whitko, with West Noble checking in at 253.
Samantha Kissel shot a 49 for the Lady Squires, with Kelsey Eichenauer coming in at 52, Leiah Brandenburg at 55, and Karly Eichenauer at 58.
Claire Reiff and Kennedy Krull led the way for Whitko, each shooting 58. Holly Hathaway and Bailey Wright rounded out the team scoring with matching 59s. Makayla Compton had a 66 as the Lady Wildcats’ fifth player.
Manchester was the only team with a junior varsity. Madyson Ulrey shot a 47, and Madison Hire had a 51. Cora Barnett posted a 54, Rebekah Pyle a 60 and Morgan Stroud a 62.
Manchester will host Oak Hill at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and Whitko will host Fort Wayne Canterbury at the same time at Sycamore Golf Club in North Manchester.

Lady Squire Soccer Wins
DENVER – Visiting Manchester got a pair of second-half goals from Ellie Milam to earn a 2-1 win at North Miami in Three Rivers Conference girls soccer action Tuesday.
Manchester isn’t scheduled to play again until Sept. 7, when it will host Huntington North at 4:30 p.m.

Cougars Beat Warriors
WINAMAC – Lakeland Christian fell behind early, but rallied in a big way to take a 9-4 win over host Winamac in boys soccer Tuesday evening.
The Cougars got goals from Mark McQuade, Garrett McCoomb, Theran McKeever and Noel Blum in the first half. LCA got two goals from Parker Stewart along with single goals from Blum, McQuade and McKeever in the final 40-minute period.
The win moved LCA to 4-2 on the season, with its next match at Argos on Thursday.

Eagles Defeat Cougars
WINONA LAKE – Kyla Kohler had four kills, with Cami Dahms and Baylee Wiley adding three kills each in Lakeland Christian’s 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 volleyball loss to visiting Culver Academies Tuesday.
Heather Plastow and Dahms had six digs each, and Kohler had four service aces and six assists for the Lady Cougars.
The junior varsity contest went to the Lady Eagles, 25-3, 25-4.
Lakeland Christian will travel to Granger Christian for a match on Thursday.

Tennis Matches Rained Out
Two area high school boys tennis matches were rained out Thursday.
Manchester started but could not complete its match at Bluffton, and a make-up date was not immediately announced.
Tippecanoe Valley moved its home match with Three Rivers Conference foe Peru from Tuesday to 5 p.m. on Sept. 13.
